emachine wont reformat xp

Hello:

I was given this Emachine T6216 xp home and it has many viruses. So i tried to reformat /recover via F11. It said some files are missing and then asks for the restore CD.
Can i get one from Emachine (no cost) or
Can i put in my xp cd from another computer and input the serial number that goes with the emachine to fix the problem.
any other suggestions?

You can order recovery discs but it will cost. Luckily I have had pretty good luck with just using a different XP Home disc. The eMachine key on the computer will work with an OEM disc.
 
Reformat is the best way. When you bought the computer they would have included an free Windows XP disc. Reformat with that and all the viruses should be gone forever
