G'day guy's,

member of the family just got online and is having trouble with their email. Everytime they send a message, they get a failure notice but the mail is actually going through. They sent e reply to one of mine and received 6 failure notices for the one reply. They are on dial-up with Telstra.

Any chance someone has experienced this and has a solution for the prob...?

what program are they using to send the email? i would suggest maybe just re-installing the software and trying again and if that doesnt work then go online and look for updated versions of the software.

Hi John,

It's a brand new puta, still running IE & OE, pre-installed software. I'll ask them to have a look for an OE update. Might even get them do download Thunderbird and see how they go.

Thanks

Yeah, I got the replies... But they still get a failure message. No-one else is getting the failures though so i figure it's on their end.

Edit: I'm using thunderbird.

At the moment they are using Outlook Express and are connected through Bigpond, I'm with Netspace.

Bit of an update... She sent 30 odd emails from work to her new home account. These all arrived 4 and sometimes 5 times over, creating nearly 150 incoming emails.

WOW, thats baaad. I usually experiment when this happens. Would you (or tyhe family member) be willing to install Firefox (Browser) and you another Email service like Hotmail or Gmail. It may yeild different results

I asked her to download Thunderbird and see how she goes... If that fails, I get her to try Hotmail or Gmail.

I'd try and use another brower too (as well as the change of email service). IE and Outlook Express may be causing the problem. I'd reccommend either Firefox or (alternatively Opera), Firefox is better though.

Yeah, I'm using Firefox, have also recommended it to her... She 's never heard of it so I sent her a link to to this site so she can read up on the testimonials for herself.

Thanks
