embedded media player

recently, any windows media player videos embedded in websites have failed to play in internet explorer. i get a black screen with ready in the bottom left corner. any idea how to fix this? do i need a plugin of some sort?

if IE is the problem, than use firefox

what version of windows media player do you have???

the same thing happens in firefox.
ive got IE 7, and media player 11.

Download new version of Firefox it should work fine.
Or maybe u need codecs for divx/xvid

ive tried the new version of fierfox, still no result.
i dont know a lot about codecs. any idas where i can get one from?

I would recommend DIVX or Klite

ive installed both codecs but still no luck. is there something else i need to do to get them working?

Try updating the Adobe Flash plugin (link: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ )

still no luck. ive tried installing all matter of plugins and codecs, reinstalled WMP and firefox. embedded videos remain blank with "ready2 in the corner, and videos set to open in WMP come up with

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is located on the Internet, connect to the Internet. If the file is located on a removable storage card, insert the storage card.​
