hi there
well I'm currently using onboard s3 graphics ,main board supports only apg4x cards...
I'm 100% sure my gpu card is an agp2x / 4x one:
www.ati.com/products/radeon7000/radeon7000/
but after installing drivers I can't see any performance boost ,why? (still lag on hd video playback)
gpu-z results:

+also tried a mobility radeon 9000 which is an agp8x chipset , same result...
mainboard: mv43v/N shuttle
1gig of ram
turned off share s3 memory in bios settings
help me please , I'm getting crazy (or I'm for now :( )

probably because the graphics card is nearly 10 years old and cannot handle high definition video playback. also probably the cpu cant decode it well either.

Your integrated graphics controller has 1 pixel pipeline. Sorry to say, but there's no chance whatsoever your computer will even be able to handle 720p HD playback.

I got this new gpu @agp4x(geforce 5200 256mb)
as you said no hd playback :(
so I should upgrade cpu to be able to watch?
current celeron 2.00 cache 128 ,socket478
all socket 478 cpus will lag ?(planning for 2.8 ,512 cache)
