.eml 'browser'

is there any sort of program that will load a specified directory and its subdirectories, then present and read backed up e-mails (.eml) files the way a traditional e-mail client would?

we are transitioning to a new system, and much of our old e-mail will need to be available for easy access. however, using outlook express (which is what we have been using) is out of the question, as the dbx file sizes are insanely huge.

rather than simply back up the dbx and leave the old messages in the default folder to be corrupted, i am looking for an option to simply drag and drop the e-mail to another folder (to be saved as .eml), and have a 'browser' program that will load that directory and its subdirectories to be used as a normal e-mail program would be.

thanks in advance for any help.

actually, if there is even just a way to rename the batch of .eml files from just the subject (what they are saved as when dragged and dropped from outlook express) to something more descriptive, that would be even better.
