Are you still having issues? Usb is enabled by default. If the they aren't recognized then most likely its a bad motherboard.

yes, I completely edited my first post, I know on my previous motherboard I had to enable usb in bios, on this one I don't seem to be able to get it working on this one

Look in BIOS for options such as Usb keyboard and mouse. Could also say legacy Usb.

Like johnb35 said, some boards have it listed as Mouse/Keyboard USB support, Enable/Disable. Sometimes its even under a different tab then the regular USB listings.

make sure you don't have un needed usb's plugged in, printers, webcam, etc. just mouse keyboard and the USB you want to run. :D good luck

cheers, the only usb item I had plugged in was the keyboard and mouse, would the fact the ps/2 keyboard was also plugged in have a bearing?

The Usb boot order has nothing to do with the issue he is having.

If you have 2 keyboards plugged in then unplug one. It's also possible there is a function button on the key used that.must be presses in order to make the F keys work so that you can get the Usb keyboard to work in the BIOS.

USB-CDROM.

One question, are you trying to update BIOS? or boot up to OS?

I was originally trying to boot to cd to format and install windows from scratch, I had to do this numerous times because it somehow went wrong everytime and it was annoying having to get a ps/2 keyboard out of the cupboard everytime I wanted to enter bios/choose boot menu

go to google, type in EasyBCD, install the program, and locate and find in the software somthing called PLoP. Install it. Reboot and enter the PLoP option in the boot menu, this gives you a usb boot option if you've done it correctly in the PLoP GUI. Works for me. And it lets you boot from Partitions too
