End of sales for Windows 7 coming up soon

Meh,Still should be able to get plenty of copys from the second hand market.

Was wondering how long it would be before they killed off 7 sales officially.
I bet they will try and kill off updates for it soon too to make people go Windows 8.1.

Ive actually gone back to Windows 7 again,While Windows 8.1 is better in terms of speed..it simply wasn't productive for me.
I had problems getting Mafia 2 to work,And Far Cry 3 Map editor which "apparently" are compatible yet i had NO luck getting them to work, even in compatibility mode.

I don't like the way Microsoft are still sticking with the tablet route of things,They still have not given us a proper Start menu we wanted..probably see this in Windows 9 for £150+ :P

Support for Windows 7 actually ends in 2020. There are rumors that windows 9 may be free for windows 7 and windows 8 customers, if i remember correctly. As far as I'm concerned the apps suck. One of my clients has a windows 8 laptop and there is an app that they use but it won't open unless you update it first. However, the update won't download. I did check windows updates and seen that there is a major update that needs to be installed, almost 900mb file. I'm sure that needs to be installed before the update for the app will work correctly. Who needs apps anyway? Apps are for tablets.

I'm seeing the same issues you are. I like 8.1 after a bit of tweaking, but there are a few applications that I really want to run that work in Windows 7 but not in 8. Can't find any reason why. I might as well re install 7 and hope for the best with Windows 9.

right there with you guys.ive kinda gotten used to win8 but only with a lot of tweaking and iobit start menu8.my personal computer, tho, will never see win8.sure hope ms come to their senses with win9.

Everything I had that worked fine on 7 also works fine on 8.1. Apart from RollerCoaster Tyoon 3 which did work on Windows 8 but once I upgraded to 8.1 it stopped working.

Some people are saying RCT3 does work on 8.1 though. I reinstalled my PC the other week with an 8.1 disc, so maybe I should try again.

Still, it's a 10 year old game and the fact it was still working on 7 and 8 when it was designed for the likes of XP, 2000 and 9.x is quite incredible really.

And as for Windows 7 - it will be more than 5 years old by October 31st this year. You can't keep selling stuff forever.

Perform the downgrade process to the eligible downgrade product using the media/key from a genuine, previously licensed OEM or retail product.

Doesn't this mean you need to have a product key already though? Even if it is free I would bet it would be a hell of either the oem or MS sending you back and forth to get that product key.

You install the Windows 7 and use the Windows 8 product key.
