You would have to consult the manufacturer's support site for the FAQ section. But it would be no surprise to see some type of similar audio or visual alert if you were seeing a hardware problem. Are you hearing a specific pattern like one long and two short or constant beeps?
Yes there are error beeps in some laptops, but just like a desktop, you can't "make" it beep. If it doesn't do anything when you powre it up, there could be lots of things wrong. Bad power, motherboard, RAM, etc etc...
If the battery crapped, cpu went doa, or something like the chipset or even the lithium battery quit on the board a system will "play dead". I've seen that enough on desktops a year or more after initial use. The watch/calculator type battery is the "low cost" item to replace there.
If the 12v battery went too soon that would be from a defect. You may have seen the recent reports on laptops catching on fire due to foobar batteries and the subsequent recalls. How long have you had the unit?
its the oldest thing,a toshiba 133mhz, i have it connected to the 220v source bec the battery is dead long ago. i cant even find where the ram or HDD is, must need to remove all to screws first to see the ram or hdd.
That sounds like an old soldered to the board Pentium I cpu in there. You will probably end up tossing it due to a major hardware failure on a unit that old. Something on the board could have easily let go. But if it is the lithium battery that's your bail out there for just a few dollars at a retail store. With nothing being seen onscreen and no sound of it booting up? It wouldn't be the drive alone that went there.
