error: cannot burn a disc with nero

im using:
xp pro sp2
nero v7.9.6.0


i have successfully burned DVDs before with the exact same software and everything. now, everytime i try to burn a dvd, i get this error:

my best guess is the dvd burner is worn out. i hope this is not the case.

anyone know how to remedy this?
 
heres something weird: i just tried burning with a CD. it works fine, but the write speed is extremely slow. i set it to 40x, but it would burn around 5x. it took 1 hour to burn a cd.

could it be my dvd drive is wearing out?
 
Your Burner appears too be wearing out.

I had this problem too. Its Common Among Dvd Burners.

Good thing is Burners are ~50AUD These Days.

I have bought a second DVD burner and use the old one for Reading Dvd's and new one for Burning.

What you could try, Is when about too burn A dvd, Set the Speed to the LOWEST it can go.

That works for me.
