Error copying file

i was trying to copy a few songs from a cd to my hd when i received the following error message:
Cannot copy *****:Invalid MS-DOS function.
the song can be played just like any other song in the cd
 
Are you running WinXP SP2, if so then you may need to get drivers for your CD drive, check with the manufcturer. Also, did you update the BIOS on your mobo recently?
 
no i have xp home without any sp.the prob is with some not all songs on the cd.
i have not updated the bios recently though.
 
your just trying to copy the .cda file to your hard drisk. Dont think that will work? It will copy but you will not be able to play.

windows media player has options to backup your song to hard disk try using that see what it says
 
the file is mp3 just like others in the cd
the media player gives the message:insert a cd in the drive although it can play the file.
