Error Message... need help

I have an Hp Ze5170 laptop, i am trying to run the recovery disk, after i insert the first disk and it begins recovery... i get a meesage ' Error encountered while creating save to disk partition ' then under that it says X:\Tools\S2D>
does anybody have any ideas or advice on what i can try? Thank You :)
 
Could it be that it's looking for a backup partition? You can chat with an HP tech by clicking here. They should know exactly what's going on... or at least point you to the right direction. ;)

the kind people at hp were no help at all, the gave me a file called killdisk which did absolutely nothing so i called them and they wanted to charge me for help... anyone have any ideas at all... what is the file x:/tools/S2D>
 
I'm pretty sure it's a location where they saved the restoration information. Did your computer come with Restoration CD's? If not, they probably put the files in that partition. Hopefully you didnt erase that partition to recover HD space. A lot of manufacturers are doing that nowadays so they dont have to pack extra CD's and such. Saves money and some people dont know it's there and it's easier for tech support to walk you through restoring your system over the phone. I dont like it, I think every computer should come with the CD's... just dont loose them.
