Error message

I'm trying to install Quake 4 and I get an error message of 0x80040702 and I do a Google search and I can download all kinds of programs to fix this so they say but I'm not connected to the Internet because I have a game machine I don't want connected to the Internet. So any program you download will want to connect you to the Internet and we all know why. My question is how do I fix this problem?
 
Have no idea what you mean by that. How do you do a google search and post here if your not connected to the internet? If on another computer, download the fix on that one and copy it to a CD or something.

Looks like it can be anything from, left over files, missing files, registry could be corrupt or a virus.

Have two computers - Did that and it doesn't work because they want me to be connected to the Internet and that is what my post is all about.
