Error Message

I have a Dell 600m and I suddenly got this message today:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error }
The Windows Logon Process system process terminate unexpectedly with a status o
f 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

It loads past the operating system, but just as it's about to load the part where I log in and stuff, well, it doesn't and a blue screen pops up with that message. I went to Microsoft's support site, but I don't understand how to resolve the problem. I'd like to resolve the problem myself, too.

I went to this site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330303

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=http://www.support.microsoft.com/kb/137400/en-us/

could anyone help and give step-by-step instructions as to how to resolve this problem? (i.e. go to start, control panel, etc, etc) as I do not understand the computer world. Any help would be great. I also need my laptop pretty badly since I have to do schoolwork on it.

Might I ask exactly how do I "get the latest Server Pack"? Download it? how is that possible if I cannot go online and such and only get to that blue screen I mentioned?

I've done some looking around and even on this site, but they don't seem to resolve the problem

i did some more looking around on the internet and found that it could be because of 'hotfix' - 890859

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/spuninst.htm

does anyone know how i can remove hotfix without being able to go on windows?

does anyone know how to:

To work around this problem, rename the computer so that it is one character shorter. If you do so, the FQDN is less than 200 characters long and the heap corruption does not occur.

?

* Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
* Go to Advanced
* Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
* Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"
