Error when copying to Ext HD?

Hello,

I am running Vista Home Premium. I have been trying to back up some photos which are on the Hard Drive of my Vista machine onto an external hard drive. I am doing this via either drag and drop or copy and paste from the Vista machine to the Ext HD. Each time I do this I get the following error code: "Are you sure you want to copy this folder without it's properties?" The folder "xxx" has properties that cannot be copied to the new location." If I hit "ok" everything appears to copy to the new folder on the Ext HD. Can anyone explain this message to me? Is this message telling me that I am not actually making a backup copy of my photos or something? THanks for any help!

Search the file folder where you have copied the new files to. Is the data you have copied at the location where you placed it?

I am copying photos from the laptop to the Ext HD. When I look into the folder on the Ext HD all of my photos are there. However, this error message makes me think that I am missing something and therefore not creating a true backup of the folder in the event that my laptop crashed. Any thoughts?

My guess is that some attributes of the photographs are not being copied to the external hard drive. Open the pictures and see if the quality has diminished in any way. If not then it is okay.
