Error while loading Windows

Hello all,

I am looking for some help. When I turn on the laptop, I get the Toshiba emblem (normal), and then its a black screen with the note:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing
or corrupt:
System32\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup
using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

Okay, I know what the second part of the error means, but I am hoping that I don't have to reformat. Does anyone know why this is cause and a possible solution? Thanks for the help.

thanks for the reply, now only if i could stop getting a "could not read ---- file" when i put my Windows XP disk in. I can get to the Windows XP setup but when it starts loading the files in the beginning, i get an error saying it can't read Such-and-Such file. I can't remember exactly but I will post it as soon as I get back to it. Thanks for the info and it will come in handy!

I actually have to xp cds, and they both give me errors when i try them, i was thinking it was the cd/dvd player itself, but it is the same file it can't load everytime.
