I switched from windows vista and upgraded to windows7 and installed fine but on 1st restart I went to a Dos cursor blink screen..I tried putting XP disc to just install that instead and got a 0x0000007b stop error. Ive just used a Boot Disc CD to erase my WD HDD. Upon attempting to reinstall windows, i still get a blue scren 0x0000007b stop error.. any ideas why this is still happening?

yeah, ive done chckdsk and it has no bad sectors. this is leaving me to believe that the windows xp disk cant read my drivers from my hdd.. sound like it may be true?

Is this an OEM computer such as dell, hp, compaq, gateway? or a custom built? What motherboard is it if its a custom built? Most likely you need the Sata controller driver upon installation.

Try using a LiveCD of GParted and delete all the partitions on the drive, then install a fresh copy of Windows 7.
