I have a Dynex external hard-drive and i am getting this error

There was a problem installing this hardware: USB to IDE

An error occurred during the installation of the device The driver installation file for this device is missing an ecessary entry. this may be because the INF was witten for Windows 95 or later Contact your hardware vendor

can you help me?

I tired what another thread suggested and downloaded
Powertoys for Windows XP and all the drives are checked

the manual says 2000 and XP does NOT need a driver. BUT since it said this i tried to change the compatibility to 95 and it still does not work.(right click properties etc)

I'm not really sure what the problem could be. It would be labeled in windows as a removable drive with a usb driver. You may want to uninstall all usb drivers in device manager then reboot with the drive disconnected of course. Then windows will reinstall the drivers and then reconnect the encloser to see if the problem persists.
