Is this a good anti virus software? I downloaded it on a recommendation from a forum, and had to uninstall avast. Should I get Avast back? Is it good for checking downloaded files?

Sometimes it says it needs attention and is having problems with the kernel.
 
Its your own personal preferrence as Eset is one of the better paid versions of antivirus programs out there. If you want free, stick with avast. All antivirus programs can scan downloadable software/files.
