ethernet card won't work

I want to install an Edimax Wireless LAN PCI Card (EW-7126) on my old PC.

the PC runs on Windows XP Pro SP2, has a 700Mhz processor, 64MB-RAM and a 32MB NVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 videocard.

I already plugged the ethernet card in the PC, at device manager it says PCI Simple Communications-controller is not installed. I insert the included driver cd in the computer, and I installed the RTL8180 utility program, and the driver for windows xp. but device manager still says it's not installed (even after a reboot). when I start the utility, I get an error saying: 'No wireless adapter found!!"

I downloaded an updated utility program and driver from the edimax website, but even with the new driver, I still can't install the adapter, and the new utility program says: "No wireless adapter selected"

when I let windows look for drivers, and I choose the specific location where the driver is located, it doesn't find any suitable drivers.

does anyone know what's wrong?

Could be that your drivers don't support XP Pro w/SP2. My ethernet card is the same way but, I know its not meant for XP Pro w/SP2.

Read on thier website about XP Pro..

Try this: Pull out the card, uninstall any ethernet drivers you have installed. Reinstall the card. When New Hardware detection window pops up, select from specific source, browse to the XP folder and select the driver.

If that doesn't work, then you may have a faulty card.
