Ethernet controller problem

i have just reformatted a computer and installed windows XP on it,

it says the ethernet controller has no driver, so i can not connect to the internet,

i go to update the driver and it says it can not find the driver on the windows XP install disk, it then recommends i connect to the internet so it can find the driver online, but i can not connect to the internet,

how do i go about fixing this?

The driver isn't on the XP installation disc. You need to go to the manufacturers support website and download the driver from there, along with all the other drivers as well (audio, graphics card, chipset, etc.).

Since you can't get online with that computer you'll need to download them onto a flashdrive on another computer.

do i go to the dell site?

Yes, Dell's support site. This is the page for you:

If you type in the service tag of the machine it can narrow down some specific drivers if there are more than one. I'll also pick them out for you. However, I don't know which GPU you have, so it would be a good idea to enter the service tag.
