Okay here my problem..........
About a week ago lighting zapped my DSL modem (Alcatel Home) I contacted Bellsouth, they sent a new Westell 6100 modem. When I hook the modem up using my ethernet card the ethernet light on the modem does not even come on. I connect the modem using the USB and it works fine. Is there a way to see it my Ethernet card is fried? I go to device manager and it shows everthing is working. I called Bellsouth and they did a line check and everything was fine. This new modem works on other Etherenet connections, but not mine. When I run the software from Bellsouth Settings it shows Ethernet "LOCKED". Does that mean anything? What could my next step be to correct this problem...
My notebook - HP Pavilion zd800
Operating System: Windows XP
NIC: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet
Thanks,
Hkick
