ethernet isnt working

my ethernet wont show up on my list of connections. i use it to share my wireless to my xbox but for whatever reason it doesnt show up on my list of network connections or on my list of network adapters on the device manager.

Have you rebooted the computer? Check in the bios to make sure that its enabled?

restarted it. checked bios. when i tried to reinstall drivers it said "the Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable."

If the computer doesn't detect it anymore then the port is dead and you will need to buy a dedicated pci network card and install it.

idk its a brand new board. maybe a month old. i really really hope thats not it. is there anything i can check?

If device manager isn't detecting it, there isn't much you can do about it. Thats why I said to go into the bios and make sure its enabled.

okay i got it to show up in my device manager now but it isnt doing anything still and when i run windows diagnose it says that something is wrong with the drivers.

What computer or motherboard do you have? Try uninstalling the device through device manager and then reboot the pc and see if the drivers get installed correctly.

i tried that already and nothing happen. my board is a Gigabyte x58a-ud3r
