Ethernet not recognized in Ubuntu 10.4

I accidentally deleted the wrong connection and now when I plug in my ethernet cord it doesn't show up. Please help.

I just made a custom connection and got it working. Now my problem is that there are a billion different articles showing how to have Ubuntu host a shared internet connection, but none showing how to have it receive the internet connection.
