The Ethernet port on my motherboard is blown, I'm suspecting lightning as it took my PSU out as well. While I've replaced that, I now need a way to connect to the internet again.
The computer doesn't pick the port up at all, i.e it's not showing under adapters. I have updated all drivers (chipset, the port and everything else I could find) and I have made sure that it is enabled in the BIOS.
So my question now is, would a PCI network card work the same? And do you get ones that take both cable and are wireless too?
Wired: D-Link-DGE-528T-Gigabit-Network-Card-PCI
Wireless: Zyxel-Zyair-Series-PCI-Wireless-Adapter-with-5dbi-antenna
Side note, is it as simple as plugging it in and them letting Windows install the drivers?
