Dell Inspiron 1501

*EDITED*

Let me just begin by saying that I've never owned a laptop before, whereas I've built a few desktop PCs for myself/friends/family. This time around, however, I decided I'd get a laptop for practical purposes [surfing, email, word, old games], and get an Xbox for my real gaming needs. That having been said, all I need this laptop to do is get me around the web, store my junk, and playing the occasional game of Diablo 2, Roller Coaster Tycoon, etc. Right now I'm eyeballing a cheap-o Dell laptop [$550 after rebate]. The Inspiron 1501.

Everything I've heard about everex is bad.

My friend bought an everex and guess what? It broke on him within the first few months he had it. The problem was the A/C jack in the laptop, and he had a warranty...oh..but guess what wasn't covered by the 1 year warranty? The part that broke.

Ditch Everex. Pay a little more for a "decent" laptop.

After considering the above, I decided to tack on $50 for a better processor/gpu, and, at the very least, the Dell name.

What do you think? [see original post]
