Recently every time I try to boot up Battlefield2 the screen just goes black for about 3 seconds and returns to the desktop. I have just reinstalled the game and then re-patched it. Unfortunately it had no effect and the same thing happens still. Anyone know what I should do to solve the problem of my game not starting??

Have you checked other programs running in the background? A lot of the time when a game exits on me like that, it's because of another program running in the background.

I have read the reason for this is either of the following:

1. The graphics card on your pc is not compatiable with the need of battlefield2, this is because only specific graphics cards can be used to play the game. See the readme file in the program directory, it should have a list of supported cards.

2. The use of a no cd crack can also cause this, this is due to the crack being made wrong or something. I know of some on the internet that do work correctly, not sure where or by what means you should get one.

3. If you instal the game update over the cracked program, this may cause the problem, you need to get a new crack for the updated version.

Hope this helps

mine did the same thing, and it ended up being the graphics card. so i rebuilt my old pc and added all new parts and it works with no problem now.

I agree with #1 (it happened to me and I had to play mine on my Bro's computer) trust me it is #1.

YES!!!!!! i finally got it working and it was not cause of the graphics card, basically I just deleted all of my BF2 program files on my computer and uninstalled the game. then reinstalled and repatched it. Now it works. Whats kind of funy is that I've been practically obsessing about getting the game working again, and now it is working, I get such lag and high pings it just pisses me off and makes me not want to play it. lol. oh well.

Can anyone give me some advice on lowering my ping since my comp is hooked up wirelessly along wit four other comps. Would getting a bridge help, considering my router is two stories down from my comp?? I am actually thinking about bringing the modem upstairs and just having my ma buy new wireless cards. Would that greatly decrease my ping??

I would check to see how much traffic is coming off of the other computers before going and buying all new hardware. My guess is that there are some other computers taking up bandwith, not the bandwith connection to your router.

Probably not. Most of the time, it is because of additional traffic either at your house or in your neighborhood. I myself have found that BF2 lags for me, but that is partially due to my compy as well. But, you can try to move it closer, but my guess is that the connection is clogged by other traffic. Try playing at lower traffic times of the day (not between 6PM and 9PM), and see if that helps as well.

One other question, what type of high speed do you have (DSL or Cable) and how far from the node are you?

DSL and I am about 1.5 stories away from my router, about 15 feet.... plus someones always on the phone which sometimes disrupts the connection.
