every time I get online It disconnets in a few seconds

well im just trying to get my dads computer on the Internet. every time i get connect(im on dail up) i get disconnted in a few second some times a minute sometimes 3 and i can use Anything to do with an Instant messanger even web based IM's will close the connceting Iv check the modem and some other setting everything is fine as far as i can see. I need Some help.

thats the problem with dial-up.
wish i could help but i had the same problem when i used with dial-up, just after it finishes the dialing process it disconnects, seem to be an interruption in the phone line.
