EVGA 2GB GTX 560 Vs. XFX 6950 2GB

Hello people,

This question has been stressing me out for a while now, and I need some input from others. For a long time I was dead set on getting a 6950 2GB when that decision was 100% based on price - performance. But recently I decided to look into GTX 560's as they seem to run cooler/quieter. In my search though I came across this deal:

An EVGA 2GB GTX 560 for a mere $224 after rebates

Should I just go for the GTX 560 above (as it seems like an amazing deal) or stick with the 6950. I'm looking to play Battlefield 3 which is why I deem the 2GB VRAM a necessity.

I'm sure both games can play Bf3 (amongst other games) at a playable framerate at high so why pay more for a 6950?

If any of you could help me reach a decision that I feel comfortable with I'd highly appreciate it!

Thanks

Get the 560ti. cooler, better supported, overclocks better (that's what I hear). I kinda wish I had gotten one over my 6950.

Thanks, and yeah I agree. If you couldn't tell from my post i'm kind of leaning towards the 560. Still want more peoples input though.

Thanks again, appreciate it!

the 6950 is a good bit better than the 560, now the 560ti about matches the 6950 in performance but apparently overclocks better. 6950 all the way unless there's a deal on a 560ti for the same or less.

I'm selling a 560Ti the factory OC'd 900mhz version - for 200$ shipped. With all the original accessories. PM me if your interested. Check out the for sale section for more details.

Whichever that is cheaper? :p

I think 6950 has a slightly better performance/benchmark but nobody would notice the difference~

Well, I just kind of went with my gut and bought the GTX 560, and to Foozball thanks for the offer but I wouldn't have accepted it anyway, just got a new card with double the VRAM for 20 more :P. Thanks again though

And thank you to everyone who replied, you made me feel much better about my decision!

I'll tell you how it goes! (Gets here in 2 days)

Thanks!

No problem bud, what resolution are you playing at anyway? I run 1920x1200 ... and I don't run out of Vram lol.

I also play at 1920x1080, but mainly got the Extra VRAM due to the deal... I was seeing 560's go for roughly 200 give or take, so for twice the VRAM at a mere 20 bucks more I thought why not? I also see Bf3 eats up roughly 1.5 GB of VRAM on ultra. Also, I plan to SLI in the future so the 2GB is a "must".

Also Foozball, what kind of frame rates could I expect in BF3 on ultra? (excluding AA/HBAO) I'm seeing some crazy fluctuations in numbers between review sites.

Thanks again to everyone who replied! Appreciate it!

I get about 40-50, maybe 55 with my 570 on ultra with AA/HBAO, so somewhere a little less than that. (or the same/more with AA/HBAO off) If you have good enough temps, a good overclock will yield a nice fps increase.

Yeah, well if it's any indication my 2500k tops at 46°C(stock) and 51°C with a mild 4.3 Ghz OC so my case/room on the whole is on the cool side. I plan to get the core to at least 1 GHz, and try not to touch the voltages.
