Evga 9800gx2 @ $285

im still weary of the gx2's they supposedly have bad microstuttering

Not just for these... That's for all of the multi-GPU setups. It has always been a problem and I think it's just now became paranoia because we've finally targeted the problem. And, some of it is just the fault of the stupid graphics drivers that are produced today...

I am not worried about it....

those things are about 5 lbs each and ive heard 2 of them can damage the motherboard. thats a good price drop. i would still pick a 4870 though

I'd be careful with quad SLi, I've seen so many benchmarks where the frames just drop like a rock as soon as quad SLi is tested. Damn good price though, I wish I had waited before getting my 9800 GTX.

lol. typical of nvidia to release something at a really high price only to drop it really low after a couple of months. :P

pressured from ATi maybe?

hmmm. PNY dropped theirs down to $299, while the rest are still $400+

/\E - THANK YOU for posting that link earlier today! As soon as I saw that I immediately bought two as well, one to replace the 9600GT in my backup rig and one to replace the 7900GS OC in my server. :D I didn't really need it in either machine, but what the hell, the price was right so I jumped on the bandwagon.

As far as the GX2s are concerned, they're absolutely wonderful GPUs ,and my current one runs without any problems. Yes it's a huge card and yes it most definitely runs hot, but thats where quality cooling comes into play.

THANKS AGAIN /\E for the heads up!

I'm retired... I don't have anything else to do now but troll computer forums and build/rebuild my systems... :D

I am going to try with my 9800GX2's to get 4 F@H cores running, one on each GPU. It will be hilarious, some of my friends will see my score jump drastically from the 20k PPD from the GPUs alone. Haha...This new rig plus my PS3 which has never folded, then I have a server with an X3320(Q9300). I have an 8800GTX in my closet, I might throw that in the X3320 server. Then, the iMac(never folded) and the Mac Mini. This is going to be fun...
