Evga nforce 780i ForTheWin (ftw) Problems with booting..

This problem is rather annoying.. but i've been "most likely" able to find the spot where the problem occur. (specs in sign)

This is what i've been doing so far to make sure there isn't any other hardware/PSU problems.

1. I've tested the PSU.. PSU function propperly.
2. All the fans+CPU cooler function propperly.
3. HDD, RAM and CD/DVD drive function propperly.
4. My GPU's function propperly.

So, this is what happens:

Once i start the computer everything boots up, but shuts down on less than 1 second (The blue and yellow LED lights up as supposed under "normal" conditions) ..However, This is the weird thing. when i unplug the 8-pin power to the CPU, Everything is booting.. The fans connected to the Mobo, the GPU's, the HDD's, the Ram and even the CD/DVD drive.. But, because the CPU does not recieve power, the computer wont function (Red LED appears, indicating lack of power to the CPU).. yet the MOBO seems to be able to power up all my hardware..

To sum it up:
-MOBO reports the correct errors and is able to power up my hardware propperly..
-All my hardware is functioning propperly

Problem:
-Something with the 8-pin thingy..

Any suggestions are helpful.. I'm in critical need for my computer to function propperly.. Thanks.

I've heard of similar issues with that motherboard, and it is the motherboard at fault. time for an RMA or a new board.

Processors aren't really known to drop dead, but motherboards do...

I assume you are not attempting to start it at the overclock settings in your sig. Just reset everything back to default in the BIOS.

Is your CPU cooler on correctly? CPUs can over heat in seconds and shut down.

Could be your processor that failed.
No. I've tested my second CPU (E8500) Same issue.

CMOS was reset, BIOS battery and chip was removed and inserted after 15min same issue.

tried a different power supply?

If you don't have one that can power your system, put your power supply in another computer instead

Thanks. Nothing is wrong with my PSU, but i'll try that later just to be sure.. you never know.. Luckily i have an "steelpower" 650W In my closet so i can test.

what in the name of all that is holy is a steelpower?

I wouldn't use that, especially with your system having a 480 in there. You are better off putting your unit in another computer rather than put that POS in yours

You may have already done this...look at your 8 pin power connector...sometimes the little metal contacts can get pushed back just far enough to not make contact. Maybe take off your 8 pin connector and reset all the wires in it?

It's an unknown bad PSU. i'll unplug everything And only connect it to the 8-pin and 24-pin to see if it keeps staying on rather than shutting down although it won't boot propperly.. My corsair TX 950 did Power everything without shutting down when i removed the 8-pin, which is the weird part.
