Hello,
I am not sure what I am looking for myself , but is there executable anti-virus software that I can put on to a usb flash drive and autoruns evertime it goes into a computer. Is it something that I have to make myself or can I download it. I have never heard of any anti-virus software similar to this. Thanks (if you can help)

I think you are going to find that the actual antivirus programs across the board have to be installed first like any other software. There are some more basic removers that will launch from a dos prompt or command line that would be something to look at. Those are geared for removing specific viruses or trojans/trojan downloaders, etc. there.

There are really not too many small programs in that type besides the boot floppy dos tools or fast remover types directed at one or two types of bugs. The softwares even freewares are anywhere from 20-50+mb when you download and go to install those depending on what feetures are included. You still need to create new reigstry entries as well as avoid clashes between anything that would boot with any program already installed.

Download Avast Anti Virus or Norton Anti Virus ...

And what will that do? Norton is a retail product. Regardless either one like any other software has to installed on the system first in order to run. What was looked for there is something small that will run off of a boot disk a little larger then a floppy without requiring installation on the system first.

You will often find that any of the special removal tools will be run from a boot disk so you are able to see them work when the OS is out of commission from a virus or other type of bug. Those are generally a small executable file seen there.

A full protection type program on the other hand will need drive space as well seeing the new entrie made in the registry so that it loads along with Windows. And then any real old dos program small enough to fit on a flash drive wouldn't be any good with the newer crap floating around. You always seem to get caught in the middle in that sense.

But, if you were to know what type of virus/infection was on that computer, you would be able to use boot disc software to get rid of it? Like you said, as long as it isn't exclusive.

If you can first identify a specific virus like and I-Worm or trojan you look over what is found for special removers from Grisoft, Trend Micro, Symantec, or other software companies to see what tools are the one purpose removal type. Some will need to run while Windows is up while others will be a dos type tool for use on a boot disk possibly flash drive as well as a floppy.

You have to go by the release notes seen for each one however to find one of that type. VCleaner and other manual tools by Grisoft can be looked over at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/29223/us/frt/0
