I've got about $120 to kill on a Mobo & CPU. I just need a budget Mobo and CPU (rather not have celeron but whatever) that supports DDR2 (and one agp if possible). I just need something to run for 2 years. ANy suggestions?

Thanks All!

An AMD Socket 939 model cpu (Atholon 3500+ 64bit) ran about $109 last spring and worked out quite well for the single cored model here. That was ordered prematurely due to problems with an older build that came up suddenly. That is now seen for $89. Other newer AMD and Intel model are found for less then $75. For a pair of AMD AM2 models, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&Subcategory=343&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

For the Intel models in stock, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&Subcategory=343&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

AMD Socket AM2 models between $50 and $65 are seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...6&Subcategory=22&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

Intel Socket 775 boards that start off with DDR2 533 memory are seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&Subcategory=280&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

Often a board/cpu bundle is something to consider while still plan on spending a little more then $120 to get into a winning combo even on a budget build. The deals at newegg are limited there at the moment. http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/SubCategory.asp?SubCategory=446&name=Motherboard-CPU-VGA-Set

CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535 - $57.40

mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131569

looks like a good combo with upgrade room, this is what I am doing for my first budget build

The problem there is that board runs DDR 400 not DDR2 533 or 667 memory. The models seen on the links posted earlier are the ones to choose from at newegg for the build planned. Other makes and model boards and cpus would have to be looked for at other vendors at this time. Newegg has been a little low on inventory lately.
