Experts, I need your help: Audio Problems!

Ok, so I finally installed my MOBO correctly and got everything to work, except i noticed some audio problems when playing my music.

When playing winamp, when I pause it, and play it again, it makes a screeching sound and I must pause and play again for it to start playing normally. I've also tried to see if its the same issue with WMP but there isnt. It is only Winamp that is doing this.

I also noticed that when I am surfing websites that my music would freeze (for like a second) at the same time as when my computer happens to be loading up the contents of the webpage and would start playing again.

Apparently, I do not know what is wrong, I had to buy a new mobo since my other mobo only supported 2GB MAX, so I had to purchase a new ASUS motherboard. Apparently, everything else is working fine but I'm just having minor issues with my audio.

are you using the drivers that came with the mobo?

onboard audio cards will let you install the wrong drivers, and then they don't work right, that's the only thing i can think that could be wrong

I did install the new drivers.

I installed it with the CD that came with the new motherboard and I also downloaded the latest driver on it as well..

I might be thinking maybe that I plugged in the speaker pins in the wrong place, but how do they work in the first place? I don't know.

Well on board audio like on board graphics are normally crappy. Go to best buy/circuit city and pick up an audigy se sound card for 30.00 bucks and there will be a world of difference in sound.

just my advice, I wouldn't use or care about on board audio.

Which exact motherboard are you using.

mind giving me a link of it on newegg or something? any specific one I should buy? I got $30 to spare on a sound card, I guess.

also i've never installed a soundcard before? is it easy?

Yes a world of difference.. from the same speakers In case you've not checked into this, onboard sound nowadays isnt the same onoboard it was a few years ago. The only benifit you'll get out of cards (short of professional lines duh), are extended EAX (whoppee) and a reduced audio processing overhead (again, whoopee).

What driver revision are you using?

the latest version is 4.0 I believe, it is what game manufacturers use, basically your games with sound a lot better....for 80.00 dollars...
Actually EAX5 ... and as for game support ... thats questionable. Sure lots of games use it, but lots of games also dont use it. With Vista crapping all over audio acceleration, I would question spending that much on a soundcard
