External Drive Emergency

We got an external drive that stopped working.. seems to spin but not coming up on any computer..

What options do we have to try to recover the data??

Have you checked disk management to make sure its not listed and just needs a drive letter assigned?
 
Can you remove the drive from the case and hook it up as a regular drive? If not, there isn't much you can do if the system doesn't recognize the drive.

Yah, I'm cracking it open shortly..

I think we are screwed with about half..

Thank god I double back up the most crucial stuff...
 
The enclosure may be the only thing failing. If you can connect the drive to another computer and see everything, then the drive is fine and you just need to buy a new enclosure.

This is the reason I buy a hard drive and separate (Rosewell) enclosure.

I do have another enclosure to use.. so fingers crossed/!
