Exteral Hard Drive not showing up

Hey guys im new here i have a question i have a 160 hard drive that i pulled out of my DVR wich stoped powering on i bought a case for the hard drive to make 2.0 usb so i can use it as external. I put it in the case set it to master and it installs it finds it and it says its ready to be used but when i go to my computer its not there . When i go to hardware it says the devise is working properly. Any ideas on how i can make it show up or even format it.

I'm pretty sure Tivo's run a version of Linux, so other DVRs probably run something similar rather than FAT32 or NTFS like Windows in compatible with.

Right-click on My Computer, go to Manage, then Management. Find Disk Management and see if the drive shows up there. From what you're saying, I suspect it WILL be there, but say the partition is unknown.

If you're lucky enough that it's know, right-click it and assign a drive letter to it.

Or maybe even format it into a NTFS file system.

if you do find it you would be best to format it and set it to FAT32 or NTFS so that windows can find it and use it properly, that is ofcourse depending on wheter the system will find it in the first place somehow
