External drive auto play.

Each time I turn my computer on (XP Pro) windows run an auto play that goes through all my files on my external hard drive. As it is a 250 gb HD partitioned in three, it takes quite some time and I have to press cancel. Can it be set in such a way to avoid that auto play at each start.

this should be easy, locate your external drive in MY COMPUTER and right-click, then properties.
go to the AUTOPLAY tab, and where it reads action, tick it, and select "Take no action".
now unplug your drive and plug it back in and see if the changes were applied successfully.
