if i format my 400 gb external firewire harddrive to fat32 on windows, when i plug it in to my macbook will i have to partion it again? i was told fat2 is compatible between both mac and pc, i was formatting to fat 32 so i would not have to network my pc to my macbook pro when i get it just to get my pro tools information off of it.

You shouldn't have to partition it again, I would be surprised if you would be forced to. It may reduce the hard drive space significantly though in the macbook.

Keep in mind if you use the windows 2000/XP partitioner, your FAT32 partitions can only be a max of 32GB. You'll have to get a 3rd party utility to format the full 400GB to FAT32.

what program is good and if i format the whole 400gb will i have to re formatl on te mac since its not really partioned, and wat did the other guy mean when he said it would reduce my hard drive space on my macbook
