External hard disk showing unallocated after plugging to Windows 11

I have a 1TB Buffalo HD-PCU2 hard disk which was working perfectly.
Today for the first time I inserted it into a windows 11 system. It showed the new drive in the file explorer for a few minutes (though not accessible). After that I could not see the drive.
After that checking from the disk management, it is showing uninitiated & unallocated. Also the 1TB drive is showing up as a 2TB drive.
I tried with other machines having windows 10. But it is not working.
Can anybody help me find how I can recover the data from the drive.

What is reported under Device Manager for this drive?

Was working fine until used in Windows 11 and now doesn't work at all? I'd like to think that MS isn't just bricking drives but if you removed it in the middle of an active process, it's possible.

Hard drive recovery is a finicky process and you might need a professional service to get very far with this.

Given the drive is 11 years old and a portable (bumped and moved a lot) I would think it's more likely it's just dead. The driver error gives me some pause but if it's not reporting a drive issue in device manager it might just be done.

I assume the data on it is important? If it's not, I'd try reinitializing the drive, but that will take out whatever is on it currently.

If the data is crucial, I'd get in contact with a data recovery company.
