EXTERNAL Hard drive..HELP

Hey,

I want to download LimeWire to my EXTERNAL Hard drive (XP operating system),but i want to know if i can connect it to my laptop (Vista operating system).

-Will the program LimeWire runs proprly on my laptop? if not,is there a way i can have all the downloads files to my external hard drive.

im not too sure cause limewire requires java, but then again try it, when it asks you where to install, point it to your external hard drive.
put your download folder on your external hard drive also, you never know it might work
