Ok, hello everybody I am new here and this will be my first post. I am a novice electronics and computer user. I know my way around, but am no where near a professional.
As the title states, I am looking for an external harddrive that can be connected to my television and able to play the media contained on it, or any similar option that gets me the same results.
Basically, I want to eliminate the need for actual dvds. My current setup involves using the PC display port on my tv, and turning my tv into a computer monitor. I do not like this set up and want to remove the computer from the equation.
I have seen products from 'Iomega' that act as a media player bridge for external hard drives. Simply put I would have to buy a external hard drive, then buy one of these products to play on my tv without the pc.
My question is what is the best method/product for doing this. I would like something that contains the hard drive + the media player all in one. I dont want to have to buy mutiple products unless absolutely necessary.
My main concern is a sizeable product (at minimum 1 TB), but also some way to 'organize' these media also. It would be nice to set up my own personal 'netflix' at home simply with the media I already have. So if there is a way to add 'tags' to media such as Action, Comedy, etc that would be amazing.
Any suggestions?
