External Hard Drive Problem

Ugh. Ok, I just unrolled from the fetal position and stopped crying. Here's the deal. I have an external HD, and I knocked it off the shelf the other day and it hit the floor pretty hard. Since, I'm not able to access it. I've tried connecting it on 2 different computers, and when I go to open Explorer to view the drives, it just freezes. When I try to access them in Media Player (it's pretty much all of my music on there), I have the same problem.

I tried downloading and running a PC Inspector program to find the drive, but that didn't work.

Any thoughts? I'm guessing you folks will need more info, so let me know what I can provide. I have a pretty basic amount of computer knowledge, so if you can dumb down any solutions a bit, it would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Being that hard drives are sensitive to shock, and unless its a laptop hard drive or a portable one, it probaly doesnt have free fall protections, which tells me that its broken. You can wait for someone with more knowledge than me, but im pretty sure its gone to the network in the sky. (thats computer heaven :P)

If its under warrenty still, definately see if they will fix it or replace it, and as for your "songs" (:D lol) they may be gone.

I'm very sorry to hear this.
There's no other way to fix this issue using software because impact affects on its inside components (mechanical malfunction).
Find some hard drive specialist to fix it, I hope the repair fee isn't expensive.
