External Hard Drive

I bought an e.h.d today [500GB LG] though when I click on the icon to remove it , it says : Samsung HM500Ji USB device.

-Is it really Samsung? or maybe the cover is just LG?

Also, when I attached it to one of my PC's usb port, the device made a strange beep. When I attached it to another usb port, there was no beep and the device worked correctly.

-Maybe there's something wrong the that usb port?

-Is it okay if I leave the device attached to my PC, always? Is it harmful for the device [even if it warms up after a certain period while connected to the PC]?

It's probably a Samsung drive in an LG branded enclosure. I'm quite sure LG doesn't have hard drives.

What kind of beep? I can't think of any USB hard drives that had a speaker in them. If it's coming from the device itself, it's probably just the drive. Sometimes hard drives can make beep-like noises

Given that it's in an enclosure, unless it gets pretty decent cooling, I'd say unplug it when not in use.

When doing some search on the internet, I came to the conclusion that the Beep sound of device is a result of insufficient power from USB port in the PC.

I have 5 other USB ports so I don't worry about this that much.

Another question:
Is it ok if I forget to remove[virtually or physically] the Hard Drive before shutting down the computer?

^ I wouldn't recommend it, because if at any time the ExtHDD and the computer's HDD are transferring files, corruption will occur. It's always best to safely remove from the taskbar.

-When I click on "safely remove hardware" and then I click on OK, the HD Led light is still on. Does it mean the HD is being charged though virtually is not connected to the PC?

Also, the ExtHDD and computer's HDD don't always transfer files. THey only do this by my command. It's not an automatic transfer.
