External Hard drive

Hi,

I am looking for an external hard drive to use as a back up for my system. I purchased a Western Digital "My Passport" Essentials 320GB unit, but after looking at the way the files are displayed (Music, Movies, Photos, Documents, Email, Other), I am returning it. I would like to view the files as they appear on my computers hard drive (a type file structure, folder....), not by "type" like this unit does. In other words, when I select my "E" drive (with the external drive connected) I would like to view this drive just as I see my "C" drive (a typical file structure). Are there any manufactures that display this drive as it appears in "Windows"?

Thank you,

Tom

Buy a laptop or desktop hard drive and buy a usb external case for it and you can set it up anyway you like it.

Thanks John,

What I think I'll do is just "drag-N-drop" all the files that I added to my drive on a weekly or bi-weekly time frame. Or just even "drag-N-drop" my entire "C" drive and let it override all existing files. I realize this seems like over kill, but I think it will work O.K. I already copied my entire "C" drive onto this unit, and it only took about 12 minutes.

Thanks again for your reply,

Tom

.
You can automate the process by writing a little batch file with notepad like so,
Example.jpg

I've linked a shortcut on the desktop. One click and it deletes the old backup and recopies all the files in the included directories.
