external hard drive ...

hey, ive been thinking for a while now of getting an external hard drive, mainly to add storage space to my pc but also for backing up files and stuff. i was wondering though, what is the write/read speed on those things or does it depend on the HD? would the average model be fast enough for me to store music/movie/website/imaging/3d work and also listen/watch/work on it at the same time? and how about games, if i were to install all my games onto it would it run fast enough to play them, or should they stay installed on my pcs main HD?

thanks for the help ... :) ...

It's fast enough to watch movies off and what not of but it is slower than an internal hard drive. I would keep your games on your main hard drive.

yeah, i thought that might be a good idea. ive got 320 gig of internal memory, enough for all my programs and games so that doesnt really matter.

ill just use it for my music, videos, all the stuff in my documents.

thanks.
