external hdd formatting

how can i format an external hdd being mac and windows compatible and being larger than 4gb of memory???
any help/links would be great <3
 
I think you can get NTFS drivers for Mac, but if you want FAT32, just use a partition manager that isn't windows XP. There are tools out there like GParted, or very small specialized ones like FAT Formatter that you can use.

Also, the limit is 32GB, not 4GB.
 
Any others out there, I also am trying to format my WDPassport which is 500gb to FAT32, trying to make it compatible to my PS3...
