Can you do it?
I have a Western Digital 250GB external HDD.
Basically its just a hardrive with a USB jack and a power supply you can hook up externally so I thought it'd be possible.

Thanks!

Well do you know if it's just a plane HD in a enclosure or built into the enclosure. (by that I mean can you take the back off and take the HD out easily?)

Kent.

You probably could either way assuming you had the space for it. I would be concernd about the issue of heating, and running the power supply and usb cable out the back somehow.

I am not supplying it with power and stuff externally, I will be putting into the Tower if I am putting it in at all.
The hdd is the WD 250 GB MyBook 7200 USB retail, if this helps.

The mybook series does not need external power anyway correct? Its powered from the USB? even less of a problem then. I say go for it! In reality you really cant hurt or damage anything as long as that hdd does not throw off any extreme amounts of heat.

It does need external power but the heat is not an issue really, since I might just open the case and manually fan it : D

I will see how hard this external HDD is to take apart. If it isn't hard, I will do it.
