External keyboard

My girlfriend has a Dell laptop and she wants to use it with external keyboard.
The thing is that the keyboard is with PS2 and there is none on the laptop.
So i bought PS2>USB adaptor but it comp says Not known hardware or something like that.
Any ideas how to make it work?

I think that the PS2-USB thing only works with mice... I'm not sure, it's just all I've seen it done with. You should be able to get a decent USB keyboard for $30 at the very most.

PohTayToes is right. The PS2>USB converter is only for mice. Just buy a new keyboard - they aren't too expensive nowadays.

NOT TRUE!!! They make converters for both as we have used them at work and my dad has them on his keyboard and mouse... Its just easier to get the new keyboard then fight with all the converters...

But the problem is that this is keyboard with Russian "birds" (she is a reporter and need to use it sometimes for researching) and it's not so easy to find it :)
Thanks for answeres.
I thought that this adaptors are the same for mouse & keyboard...
I'll try and find one for keyboard.
After testing the one i've got with PS2 mouse.
