I'm having some problems with my external hard drive...
I repatitioned in through the windows setup so it would be partitioned as NTFS, not FAT32.

It's a western digital My Book essentials edition.
Now it won't register in windows, and I can not access it.
Any ideas?

first i would try the cd that comes with it (if there is) or take the drive out and pop it in your computer and try to reformat it

I love western digital i would highly recommend any of their drives... I have six... a couple external and a couple internal and none have EVER given me any problems (oldest is about 3 years)

^ AGREED ! I have one made in 1996 and its still running!

(well its on the shelf now until I can get my old 166 up and running :D)

Some guy I remember said he worked for dell or something like that and he said he saw WD drives coming back all the time as being messed up... and I can barely believe it because of the track record they've had with me (and I know people who own about 4 or 5 more who all love them too)

Since the problem has already been solved and this isn't a WD is great thread it's now closed.
