External Sound Cards Any Good?

Basically i've just upgraded from a HP to a DELL XPS. The HP had a dedicated soundcard, i believe. The DELL is onboard. I was expecting there to be a reduction in quality, although some on here said there wouldn't. There is a reduction in quality. I had DR. Dre headphones so nothing to do with them!

The bass is lacklustre is really the main issue. Im also hearing a hissing type noise on and off when there is no audio been used? Anyway, where to get something external that will be great and provide nice sound?

Thanks

That would work, but is there a reason you can't install an internal sound card in your computer?

Cool. I could install one, but how easy is it? And where would i plug my headphones in to? Or would it be just the same? I currently plug them in at the front dock.

It's not too difficult, and you have more options to choose from with internal cards. You'd plug them into the back of the computer, although some cards have connectors to use your front ports.
