my laptop speakers are working nut if i connect my headphones or external speakers it does not work

I'm a bit confused on what is happening. Are the laptop speakers working when your headphones/ external speakers are not plugged in?

the laptop speakers work but when i plug the external speakers it dosent and by the way this laptop is brand new

go to sound preferences and select the hardware tab. What do you have? Also check what device is set up as default under the output tab.

Well it says analog stereo duplex and under the output tab it says simultaneous to internal audio stereo and internal audio analaog stereo

try switching the other outputs and see what that does
